WHAT IT IS
Mental Health First Aid is about knowing what to do when it matters.
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The assistance is given until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
Just as physical first aid is given to an injured person before professional medical care arrives, MHFA provides the skills to support people until they can connect with the right professional help. It is not about diagnosing or treating; it is about providing initial support and guidance.
You don't need to have the perfect words. You need enough confidence to start the conversation.
WHY IT MATTERS
Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing what to say.
Most people want to help when they see someone struggling, but they hold back because they are afraid of saying the wrong thing or making the situation worse.
Mental Health First Aid training replaces that hesitation with a clear, evidence-based action plan. You learn to spot the early warning signs of common mental health problems, how to approach someone comfortably, and how to guide them toward professional help before a situation reaches a crisis point.
Sometimes starting the conversation is the most important first step.
Useful at work. Useful outside work.
Mental Health First Aid skills are not just for the workplace they provide the confidence to support friends, family, and the wider community.
